Happiness

One of my favorite bloggers, Taza of The Rockstar Diaries, had wonderful little idea today that immediately put a smile on my face. Basically, she asked everyone to list ten things that makes them terribly happy. Some of her things included wearing her husband's sweatshirt, fresh flowers, yawning, and pretending she can walk in six inch heels. So cute!

So, in the spirit of spring, I thought I would post my own list.

1. Taking long drives in the summer with the windows open and the radio blaring. There's just something so exihilerating and relaxing about riding in the passanger seat with the sun shining through the windows, making you squint as you sing along to your favorite songs. I just adore it!

2. The Princess Bride. This movie always puts a smile on my face. I can pretty much quote the entire film. For reals. I'll most likely watch it at the end of next week to celebrate the end of the semester...Don't judge me.

3. Devin (aka The Boyfriend). Yes, I am a sap. But, he really does make me very very happy. I love spending time with him. It doesn't matter what we're doing - watching a movie, doing homework, dancing around the kitchen - every day I love him a little more...

4. Vacations/Road Trips. I love vacations. I look forward to them every summer. They are always so much fun, and really bring my family closer together. My favorite type of vacation involves a lot of travel, specifically road trips. There is nothing better than driving down unfamiliar streets listening to a Music Mix created especially for this new adventure.

5. Steve Martin. Okay, I adore this man. He acts, writes, plays the banjo...I mean, what can't this man do? I particularly love his novellas. They are so beautiful, poignant, and hilarious. Each one makes me fall in love with his work even more.

6. Dancing. Ever since I was a little girl, I loved to dance. My first stage was the linoleum floor of my family's kitchen. Today, it's pretty much anywhere and everywhere. For instance, I love breaking out some interprative dance in Alison's car...Jazz Hands!

7. Finishing an amazing book. I love love love to read! I look for new and interesting books to read every chance I get, and I adore settling in for the day and finishing a book. There really is nothing better than closing that final cover and knowing you've finished a work of art. Beautiful.

8. John Mayer Concerts. I have an obsession. It is sad, and slightly pathetic. Marjorie and I drove a total of four hours (to and from the venue) just to see the husband. Sigh... It was so amazing and totally worth it!

9. Interesting gifts. I love getting really personal and interesting gifts. I think they really reflect the person that gave them to you and shows just how much the person appreciates you and your frienship. Some favorites include my fantastic TRAVEL MUG from Marjorie that is decorated with pictures of us, my ALFRED HITCHCOCK POP-UP BOOK from Alison that I look at (no lie) everyday, my LITTLE GERMAN BEAR from Kaitlin, my LUCKY ELEPHANT from my Mommy, and my ELECTRIC BLANKET from Devin. So much love! :D

10. Musicals. Another obsession of mine, I absolutely worship the musicals (including movie-musicals). I love spending a rainy day in the summer curled up in my basement watching Turner Classic Movies. I love Singin' in the Rain, On the Town, Top Hat, It's Always Fair Weather, - really anything that stars Gene Kelly or Fred Astaire. I also love going to see them on stage. Some of my favorites are Wicked, Spring Awakening, Into the Woods, and A Chorus Line.
